As Rotarian PP Russell and Jenny are intending to remain in Newman for an extended period, it was with regret that members accepted Russell’s resignation from the Rotary Club of Rochester. Inducted into membership on 31st December 2001, Russell has played an active role within the club, serving as Youth Director and Treasurer for a total of 13 years before leading the Club as President in 2010-11

PP Ray reported on his attendance at the Foundation Grants Seminar held on Monday evening at Graduate House. Ray is to investigate further the pre-requisites for nominating recipients for the Royce Abbey Scholarship and the procedures for grant applications. With Foundation Chair, Gay, Ray plans to hold a membership drive with a focus on the 100th Anniversary of the Rotary Foundation.

On Tuesday evening, PP Noel & Robyn attended the Farewell to Daryl Mills, Liaison Officer in Timor Leste conducted by the RC Balwyn. Representatives from 17 Rotary Clubs gathered to pay tribute to Daryl’s 13 years of dedicated service to the people of Timor Leste. Following Daryl’s address where he highlighted some standout moments, several Rotarians spoke of the assistance given by Daryl to them and to the projects sponsored by their Clubs. At the conclusion of the meeting, the RC Balwyn became the 6th Club to recognise Daryl with a Paul Harris Fellowship. Congratulations & Well done!

At the conclusion of the meeting, members finished the collating of the ROADEC booklets while enjoying toast cooked over the coals of the open fire with their cup of tea or coffee. With the air conditioner to be installed next week (weather permitting) it may be some time before we make use of the fireplace.

FARSE: The meeting of 11th August will see members packing show bags. Meanwhile Heather & Noel will revise the site plan so that it can be sent to schools prior to the event.
