Meeting Of: 30th July 2015
August – Membership and Extension Month
Pres. Noel welcomed Rotarians Ray, Heather, Noel S, Graeme, Rotary Partner Robyn with a warm welcome to Nerida Dye, Community Outreach Coordinator, Shire of Campaspe.
Apologies were received from Ray and Bryan.
Guest Speaker: Having taken up her position as Community Outreach Co-ordinator in January, Nerida is very keen to inform community members of her role and to seek assistance from community groups to identify socially isolated residents of the Shire who may benefit from the range of services available through the Campaspe Regional Library.
Nerida provided brochures and explained many of the services and support materials that are available. These include Books on Wheels, Words on Wheels along with many aids supplied through Vision Australia. For those who were under the impression that a Library is only a place where we can borrow books, Nerida informed us of the many social activities such as card and scrabble groups and knitting groups that are conducted through the Library along with technical support for computer, tablet and phone users and the holiday programs run for school children. Campaspe Regional Library is the first regional Library in Australia to be accredited as e-smart.
Meals on Wheels: The meals roster for the week was completed successfully. My thanks to all who contributed, especially St Joseph’s School for their assistance.
ROADEC: PP Graeme reported that he had visited RC Kangaroo Flat to talk about ROADEC and that he is to meet with members of RC Brighton within the next week. Plan are being made to offer a weekend course to D9800 Club Community Service Directors.
FARSE: A donation has been received from the Elmore Field Days Committee. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the Men’s Shed is unable to attend.
Rtn. Bryan has posted FARSE updates to Rochester Community Facebook page, D9800 Discussion Page and has made arrangements for listing on 2QN’s Community Billboard.
