                                                                     Meeting 16 June

Next Meeting: Thursday 23rd June at the Court House.

June: Rotary Fellowships Month                                                                                                                                             Rotary Fellowships began informally in 1928 when Rotarians with a shared interest in the international language Esperanto joined together. In 1947, a group of Rotarian boating enthusiasts began flying the Rotary flag from their crafts, calling themselves the International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians — which now holds the distinction of being the oldest continuing fellowship. The scope of fellowships has changed significantly over the years, but their purpose remains the same: to unite Rotarians in friendship and provide opportunities to enjoy favourite recreational or professional activities.

On Thursday 16th June, Pres. Noel welcomed Rotarians Heather, Graeme, Ray, Noel, Bryan and Stewart along with Rotary Partners Jeanette, Pam & Robyn. Apologies were received from Rtn. Gay. LOA: Rtn. Russell

Echuca Steam & Horse Rally:                                                                                                                                                   Members all agreed that our weekend of Camp Cooking at the Steam Rally had been a success, proving how well

13435486_947010498744980_4969473950670508965_nRC Rochester members & families work together. For the first time in 7 years Heather worked at the front of ‘house’ as the team of damper makers she has trained were sufficiently confident in taking over the ‘kitchen’.

On our arrival on Saturday morning it was evident just how much Reece had contributed to the Camp Cooking over the years, especially the preparation of the site and the supply of utensils. It was pleasing to hear that in the near future the site is to be renamed in honour of Reece.

Our tally board shows the numbers of dampers that were made over the two days. Probably the final total was even more.

Hopefully it won’t be too long before we receive a comprehensive report of the days’ activities.

Special thanks go to Roger Lucas, Tim Watson & Leigh Griffiths and to Rotary partners Graeme Watson and Robyn Lucas for their contribution to the event.

At the meeting of June 9th, Heather, Noel and Bryan reported on their attendance at the “My Rotary” workshop. Plans are in hand to hold a practical demonstration to instruct members in the use of this site.

As PE Bryan is to be inducted as RC Rochester President on Sunday, the opportunity was taken to thank President Noel for his leadership over the past two years.                                                                                                                   Thank you, Noel.
