NEXT MEETING, 22nd October at Court House. Board Meeting. Directors, please have reports to Sec. Heather ASAP

October – Economic & Community Development                                                                                                                       Lille Fro Foundation (Lille Fro), is an Australian charity founded in 2008 by Sydney based lawyer, Tamara Cannon, daughter of Ngaire, RC Hawthorn. ‘Lille Frø’ is Danish for ‘little frog’. It also means ‘new beginnings in the form of a little seed’.                                                                                                                                                                                              On one climbing trip in the north of India, Tamara met a little girl living in destitute circumstances. Like many children in her village, this child had never been to school. Tamara decided to pay for her education. Seeing first hand the difference she had made to this child’s life through the simple gesture of sponsorship, Tamara realised she could not turn her back on other children in similar circumstances. The seed had been planted and Lille Fro had begun.                                                                                                                                                                                               Projects include:                                                                                                                                                                                     1. Little Seeds Program                                                                                                                                                              Assisting with the delivery of education to remote communities. This includes our Child sponsorship and Indigenous Skills programs in schools as well as Lille Fro House.                                                                                                  2. Community Development Program                                                                                                Teaching parents how to grow fresh vegetables through the funding of community greenhouses at high altitude.  3. Disaster Relief                                                                                                                                         In 2010, following the mudslides which devastated much of Ladakh, Lille Fro was on the ground providing emergency relief.

FARSE: It was pleasing to see that Energy Safe Victoria, one of our sponsors for the Farm & Road Safety Expo, had an article and photograph regarding FARSE in their latest magazine. The article highlighted Energy Safe Victoria’s contribution to the Expo and the safety message given by all exhibitors.

Members are sorry to hear that Eddy Oogjes, a guest at a recent meeting has been admitted to hospital. We wish Eddy a positive outcome and hope to see him again soon.

Court House: The Open Day held last Sunday attracted a number of visitors interested in the restoration of the building. The displays showing some of the work carried out over the past few years received many comments and questions while the displays and power point presentations of the projects carried out by the Rotary Club of Rochester created quite a lot of interest and discussion. Unfortunately the kitchen was not in full use as the gas meter has still not been installed.
