November is Rotary Foundation Month: The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that
supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through
international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs.
The goals of the Rotary Foundation are:
1. Eradicate polio, our top priority
2. Build a sense of ownership of our Foundation among Rotarians through their contributions to the
Annual Programs Fund, the Permanent Fund, and our Rotary Peace Centres.
3. Continue our progress on the Future Vision plan and align our service projects with the six areas of
focus
• Peace and conflict prevention/ resolution
• Disease prevention and treatment
• Water and sanitation
• Maternal and child health
• Basic education and literacy
• Economic and community development
Goldfields Cluster Foundation Dinner: This is to be held on Tuesday 25th November 2014, 6.30 pm
for a 7 pm start at Bendigo Stadium, 134 Marong Rd, Bendigo. Guest Speaker is Charles Allan, Rotary Peace Scholar Alumnus, Superintendent, Priority Communities Division, Victoria Police.
RSVP for this function was Friday 7th. For members, attending, please make own arrangements.
Court House: Pres. Noel & Treas. Russell are to arrange meetings with contractor Jarrod and cabinet
maker John Columbine in order to determine a possible completion date for the project.
What’s in the Box?
With only a couple of weeks before reveal, the box is getting heavier. Students involved in the World of
Difference tour will be present when the box is finally opened. PP Heather has received several parcels of knitting that will be packed for the trip to Cambodia. Thanks to C.W.A. members, residents at Southern Cross, Echuca and members of Rochester Community House for their contribution to World of Difference.
Wine Tour: Please bring along family and friends to support this event. Stewart & Mine Host at the
Wine Tavern, Mick, have planned an itinerary taking in several wineries within the Heathcote area. Cost is $30 plus lunch and the bus will be leaving the Railway Station at 10.30am on Sunday 16th November. Come along and enjoy.
Members accepted, with regret, the resignation of Rotarian Joe Flynn. Joe has not been in the best of health these past months and is spending more time with his brother in Queensland. Thank you Joe for the service you have given so unselfishly. We will miss your company.
