We wish Jeanette a speedy recovery following recent surgery.

My Opinion: This week was the turn of Pres. Noel who chose as his topic, ‘Retirement’. This is a topic that has different meanings to many people while so many others don’t have the opportunity to retire from their working life. Noel was always conscious of advice given him by older friends that one needed activities/interests that fill ones time while at the same time remembering that you can’t play golf or bowls seven days a week. In August 2001 Noel took long service leave in order to take part in a six-week VISE (Volunteers for Isolated Students Education) placement with a family near Pooncarrie, NSW. On returning home he gave his employer 6 months notice and in the years since as enjoyed the opportunities available through this scheme that was set up to support outback families. While Robyn looks after the family schoolroom, Noel’s time is spent in the workshop or out on the property setting his own work projects and hours to be worked. Rotary along with projects in Timor Leste take up the remainder of Noel’s time.

Court House: Russell, Ray and Noel L. met on Wednesday evening to go through the financial records, income and expenditure to date plus items still to be completed.

Pres. Noel has written to Heritage Victoria as instructed by members at last week’s meeting and is now awaiting a reply.

Ray and Heather are to meet with John Columbine to discuss the kitchen layout and construction. A meeting is to be arranged with Shire of Campaspe to ascertain requirements for kitchen registration and Sharyn Herne is to obtain quotes for cementing the pathways while Pres. Noel is to obtain quotes for floor sanding.
