March: Water & Sanitation Month

Over 750 million people in the world lack access to safe water and more than 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation facilities. At least 3,000 children die each day from diarrhoea diseases caused by unsafe water. Rotary’s projects give communities the ability to develop and maintain sustainable water and sanitation systems and support studies related to water and sanitation.

Pres. Noel welcomed Rotarians Heather, Noel, Graeme, Gay, Bryan, Ray and Stewart along with Rotary Partners Robyn, Jeanette & Pam

L.O.A. Rtn. Russell

Court House: All agreed that the paths and disabled entry are looking good. Hand rails are still to be installed and these should be in position within the next 2 weeks.

Murray Goulburn staff held a meeting at the Court House during the week and were impressed the work that has been undertaken and the facilities that are now available.

ROADEC: PP Graeme reported that he will be conducting a course for a group of students from the Bendigo area on 4 -5 April. Enquires regarding courses have been received from RC Kerang. Graeme & Sec. Trish has made a valuable contribution to ROADEC & she will be missed.

Mural Festival: Pres. Noel has assisted the Mural Festival Committee with various tasks such as moving last year’s murals and preparing the stands for the new, during the past week. The new floor in the shed has met the approval of the committee and should prove to be very popular with the artists.                                                                               All is in hand for the Devonshire Teas & Book Sale that will be conducted during the week.

Network Meeting: PP Graeme reported on the meeting attended by several members last Thursday. We heard of the plans of various organisations and overall their was a willingness to co-operate and assist each other.               The seasonal calendar of events to be published by the Business Network should help in bringing groups together by providing another form of communication. It was agreed that communication between all groups be encouraged and that greater use be made of the Rochester website.
