News from Ainaro:
Last weekend Heather & Carmel hired a 4WD and driver to travel south to Suai, probably a distance of
50km that took 3hours. They visited places of interest in the town, paddled in the Timor Sea and walked
the black sand beach. They were able to watch one of the local women weave tais, the traditional cloth,
and noted that the many cows in the village were kept in pens in the houses whereas in Ainaro cows and
buffalo are on long ropes and are tied up in back yards or on the school oval.
The two returned to Ainaro by bus, a 5 hour journey that passengers shared with a pig, chickens, fuel
containers and bags of rice, corn and vegetables. (The pig was on the top of the bus)
