Important: Please make sure you contact PP Russell by Mid-day Thursday with your apology.
Russell’s email is suttoncourt@bigpond.com.au
Next meeting: 19th March at the Wine Bar, 6.00 for 6.30pm.
Pres. Noel welcomed Rotarians Heather, Stewart, Noel and Graeme and Rotary Partners Pam & Robyn. A special welcome was extended Leo Kearney.
Apologies were received from PP Russell who was attending son David’s graduation in Sydney, Rtn Bryan, attending District Conference in Hobart and PP Ray who was occupied with work in Wycheproof.
ROADEC: PP Graeme presented a summary of comments received by District participants who attended a meeting at ROADEC on 20th February. In order to grow the program throughout the District and to achieve its full potential it was felt that additional people resources are required. PP Graeme & Pres. Noel have both contacted D9800 Community Service Chair, Marjorie Gerlinger giving their permission to circulate the summary to District Clubs. The next step will be to invite interested members from other Rotary Clubs to join the ROADEC Committee and to formulate a business/marketing plan.
Meals on Wheels: Thanks to all who have delivered meals this week. The assistance given by members of Probus is much appreciated.
Mural Festival: Pres. Noel reported on the part the Rotary Club of Rochester played in the successful week long Festival. Thanks to the cooperation of Campaspe CWA we were able to supply artists and volunteers with refreshments that were also made available to visitors to the display. The recently relocated garden shed was ideal for storing the artists’ supplies.
The Rotary Promotion held last Saturday evening was a pleasant occasion with guests and Rotarians partaking in some friendly discussions whilst enjoying the very tasty finger-foods.
Club Meetings: Commencing Thursday 26th March, the Rotary Club of Rochester will meet at the Court House 6.30pm for 7.00pm. Supper will be served following the meeting and members may remain for fellowship.
World Literacy Month: It was fitting that during the recognition of World Literacy Month, the Photographic Exhibition, Timor Leste – People & Places was featured at the Court House. Many of the photos were taken by Heather & Robyn while they were in the town of Ainaro as members of Teachers 4 Timor and there were a number of photos featuring students attending English Language Classes. Fitting, also that Pres. Noel & Robyn leave shortly for Timor Leste to again participate in this Program that allows many Ainaro residents to practice and improve their conversational English.
