January – Vocational Service Month: The underlying premises for Vocational Service is to:

• Encourage high ethical standards in business and professions

• Recognise the worth of all useful occupations

• Celebrate the opportunities that Rotarians have to serve society through their occupations.

Within Vocational Service the role of an individual Rotarian is to maintain personal and professional conduct in accordance with Rotary Principles and to respond to projects that their club has developed. The role of the Rotary Club is to increase employment opportunities in the community, promote a fair workplace environment, and raise vocational awareness, all through the development of projects that help members of all classifications contribute their vocational talents.

 Pres. Noel welcomed Rotarians Heather, Noel and Gay along with Rotary Partners Graeme and Robyn.

Apologies were received from Rtns. Stewart, Graeme, Ray and Bryan (who did make a late appearance) L.O.A Russell Anderson

Due to the small number in attendance, members met at the home of Sec. Heather for an evening of social interaction and were joined by Heather’s daughter, Brooke.                                                                                              Discussions during the evening centred on the Tennis, the weather, the decreasing availability of irrigation water, bushfires in Tasmania, the truck curfew on the Greensborough Highway, reduced lane width on the Tullamarine and the problems being experienced by the hydo-power plants due to lack of rain.

Noel & Robyn also spoke of their attendance at the Lark Force commemoration ceremony held at the Shrine last Sunday and with prompting from Brooke, recounted some of their experiences as members of VISE (Volunteers for Isolated Students Education)

 An invitation has been received to join with RCs of Echuca Moama and Central Melbourne Sunrise for a social event to be held on Sunday 20th March,
