Apologies were received from Heather, Ray, Stewart and Pam.
During the past weeks members have attended several Changeover Functions and sent apologies for non- attendance to others.
Noel, Robyn, Heather and Bryan attended the DG’s Changeover last Saturday when D9800 Clubs had the opportunity to thank Murray & Irene for their leadership and friendship extended over the year and to welcome Julie into her new role. We look forward to working with DG Julie and her Leadership Team during this Rotary year.
A pleasant surprise was to find that RC Rochester had been awarded A Bill King Rotary Image Recognition for using the Mural Festival to promote the club and its projects.
The Club has received an invitation from the Shire of Campaspe for 2 members to attend the Cheque Presentation for the Community Grants Program to be held on Tuesday, 28th July.
Pres. Noel announced that we have been successful in obtaining a District Membership Grant that must be implemented by Oct.31st. Several ideas have been discussed and definite plans will be made within the next few weeks.
The Canning Stock Route: PP Russell entertained members with the recounting of his trip along the Canning Stock Route that he took last year. Russell and Jenny flew to Kununurra where they met their travelling companions and spent several enjoyable days camping at Lake Argyle before heading down to Halls Creek and the start of the track. Not far out of Halls Creek the group experienced their first puncture and decided to return to Kununurra for additional spares.
Resuming the trip, the group were amazed at the variation in vegetation, landscape and track conditions. They experienced the age-old problem of crossing sand dunes and in the process suffered the indignity of becoming sand bogged on several occasions. Due to suspension problems the trip was curtailed about 1/3 of the way through and the group turned west to Marble Bar and after repairs continued the journey down the west coast.
