November is Rotary Foundation Month:
To a young set of parents in Afghanistan, it was a life-saving immunization for their five-month-old son. To a woman with seven children in Malaysia, it was a loan to start a sewing business that enabled her to feed her children. To North Koreans, it was an ambulance that equipped a hospital to be able to take care of them. To thousands of college students in almost every country on earth, it was the chance to study abroad, with all expenses paid, and learn their educational specialty up close and personal.
Ask anyone who has been touched by The Rotary Foundation what it is and every answer will be different. Ask anyone who has been touched by The Rotary Foundation just how important it is, and every answer will be identical.
The Humanitarian Programs of the foundation help fuel international Rotary projects to improve the quality of life, providing health care, clean water, food, education, and other essential needs primarily in the developing world. (Rotary Global History Fellowship)
Court House: Treas. Russell has met with electrical & plumbing contractors to ascertain status of project. While making phone contact with the builder, he is still to arrange a face to face meeting
What’s in the Box? With only a couple of weeks before reveal, the box is getting heavier. Students involved in the World of Difference tour will be present when the box is finally opened.
My Opinion: PP Graeme wants to know what has happened to common sense. When going on RACV calls, he is horrified by the lack of common sense and the associated lack of responsibility for ones actions. Surely the change in engine noise was noticed or the temperature gauge warning light? A common response appears to be, ”Well it is still under warranty so they’ll have to replace it.”
Stewart, it’s your turn in 3 weeks.
Christmas Breakup: Several suggestions were put forward. Please come along this week ready to make
a final decision as to the format for this annual event.
Club Vision: The online survey has been received and members are reminded to complete it during the coming week. The day seminar is to be held at Community House on Sunday, 23rd November, commencing at 10.00am
Fund –raising BBQ: A reminder that a BBQ has been booked at Bunnings for Sunday 25th January and
Sunday 5th February. Keep these dates in the diary and let Pres. Noel know if you can assist.
