Leave of Absence: Rtn. Joe Flynn
Apologies: Ray Lewis and Graeme Nelson
BBQ – Fund Raising: Bunning’s BBQs held last Sunday 5th October ended with a pleasing profit outcome of $809.16. Thanks to Ray, Noel Schier, Bryan, President Noel and partner Robyn for their efforts. It was unfortunate that several activities of note clashed. The next BBQ fundraiser is on the 25th January.
Rochester Fire Brigade: PP. Heather represented Rotary at the function held on Sunday last which saw Paul Weller MP hand over of the keys for two new vehicles. The new station doors, replaced through a grant from Bendigo Bank were also officially opened.
Elmore Field Days: ROADEC: In the absence of PP Graeme we are aware that he also managed to setup the ROADEC information site in the Agribusiness Pavilion on the Sunday. Thanks to those persons who assisted Graeme. We understand that over the three days PP Graeme has had a number of enquiries.
Machinery Escort: We have provided volunteers for a good many years for this important safety exercise of moving machinery to and from the static promotion sites to the field demonstration areas. Thanks to Noel, Robyn and Robert Lucas for covering the three days required.
50th Anniversary: One week before the RSVP deadline. Get your replies in early. At the weekly meeting of 16th October duties will be allocated. It has been disappointing to learn this week that some invitations sent to District Clubs have not been passed onto members. We believe that members of our sponsor club, Echuca Moama will be arriving at the venue in style via vintage steam.
Guest Speaker, ADG Stonnington, and member of RC Melbourne South, Bronwyn Stephens in her role with World of Difference had earlier met with PP Heather and the Rochester students who will be travelling to Cambodia in December. Changing hats, Bronwyn gave us a presentation on the district endorsed programme “Busy Feet”. A project of the RC Chadstone East Malvern under the chairmanship of Li Hughes, Busy Feet provides children aged 6 to 16 with intellectual and physical disabilities with the opportunity to enjoy musical activities. The children work one on one with volunteers under the instruction of a dance teacher. Since commencing at the planning stage in 2010, those involved in the program have seen positive results for both children and their carers. Thank you Bronwyn for bringing this project to us.
