Next Meeting: 7th April at the Court House. 24th March Meeting
There will be no meeting next week due to the absence of a number of members.
March: Water & Sanitation Month Clean water is a basic need for human beings. When people, especially children, have access to clean water, they live healthier and more productive lives. However, at least 3,000 children die each day from diseases caused by unsafe water, which is what motivates our members to build wells, install rainwater harvesting systems, and teach community members how to maintain new infrastructure.
While very few people die of thirst, millions die from preventable waterborne diseases, providing the impetus for our members to also improve sanitation facilities in undeveloped countries. Members start by providing toilets and latrines that flush into a sewer or safe enclosure and then add education programs to promote hand-washing and other good hygiene habits. (from rotary.org)
Pres. Noel welcomed Rotarians Heather, Gay, Stewart, Noel, Graeme and Ray and Rotary Partners Pam, Jeanette and Robyn. Apologies were received from Rtn. Bryan, LOA: Rtn. Russell
Court House: At long last the disabled entry has reached a conclusion and all agreed the pathway looks good. Pres. Noel has submitted the grant acquittal forms to District along with some appropriate photos. Next month it is planned to have a working bee to clean up the site and to paint the bottom rail of the entry.
Sallyanne Dobson from Campaspe College visited the Court House to make a selection of books for the Library she is setting up at the College. After the Easter Break she hopes to return with a number of students to make a further selection.
Fund Raising: Members are asked to keep Sunday 10th April free for our next Bunnings BBQ. We have also requested a Cake Stall at Bunnings for Saturday 21st May.
ROADEC: Graeme will require assistance to set up the classroom on the weekend of April 3rd in preparation for a class to be held the following 2 days.
FARSE: Sponsorship has been received from Goulburn Murray Water and Campaspe Irrigation. Pres. Noel and Sec. Heather have met with Jenny Turner, SoC Development Officer to discuss the application for the Shire grant. Jenny passed on a few ideas for inclusion in the application.
Reminder – Keep this Date Free: Pie & Port Night is back again in 2016 and will be held at the Court House on Saturday, 7th May.
To think about: Pres. Noel & Sec. Heather have arranged to take a van to DIK on Thursday 14th April. Who would like to arrange transport to join them and hold a club meeting at DIK
