December – Disease Awareness & Prevention Month:                                                                                As we recognise this month in the Rotary Calendar, it was fitting that we received a thank you note for our contribution and an update on the MEC project sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bendigo South. The District Foundation Grant has now been acquitted and 19 children afflicted by this condition have been assisted.

Pres. Noel welcomed Rotarians Heather, Graeme, Gay, and Noel along with Rotary Partner Robyn. A welcome home was extended to Rtn. Bryan who gave us an insight into his adventures on the World of Difference tour to Cambodia.

Christmas greetings have been received from Akira Tajima, RC Rochester’s first exchange student in 1965. Akira has visited Rochester on several occasions and over the years members of his host families and school friends have visited him in Japan. Members were saddened to hear that Akira has just started chemo for treatment of pancreatic cancer. We wish him all the best and look forward to his next visit to Rochester.
