The Annual General Meeting was held at the commencement of the meeting. Congratulations to Rtn. Bryan Griffiths for accepting the position of President for the Rotary Year 2016-17. All other positions were filled. A notice of appreciation was minuted recognising the 17 years PP Graeme has acted as Chair of the Annual Farm & Road Safety Expo (FARSE) Project.
Court House: It is pleasing to note that the contractor has commenced the preliminary works for the installation of the kitchen. Work on the kitchen is expected to be completed within the coming month.
International Service: It was agreed to continue supporting “Sponsoring Education for Children” a RAWCS program initiated by RC of Southport. Our two students, Megi Fransiska & Dhea Santika Kristanto are students at the Bandung Girls Home.
Pres. Noel & Rtn. Bryan reported on their attendance at the 90th Anniversary Celebrations of RC of Bendigo. As promised it was an “evening to remember”. From the re-enactment of the first meeting, the launch of the Rotary Song, the re-presentation of the historic staff, all in attendance enjoyed the fun and friendship generated by such an occasion.
Membership: Continuing the membership drive, members are reminded to notify Sec. Heather if bringing a guest.
Youth Service: Information regarding the “Doing Good” Video Schools Competition has been distributed to the Secondary College. Last Wednesday Pres. Noel & Robyn were pleased to be able to act as adjudicators at the Northern Rivers Debating Competition. The standard of debate at all levels was of a high standard as students tackled some difficult and current topics.

Hat Day is Australian Rotary Health’s national fundraising and awareness day for mental health research, celebrated each year on World Mental Health Day – Friday October 9, 2015. Since the inaugural Hat Day in 2011, Hat Day has claimed two Guinness World Records (most people wearing paper hats & most people wearing red hats). Hat Day recently launched a new logo, as well as a new website with social fundraising features.
