27 April Meeting

Pres. Bryan welcomed Rotarians Noel L, Heather, Gay Graeme and Rotary Partners Jeanette and Robyn. A special welcome was extended to ADG Greg Noonan and to Warwick Cavell from Central Melbourne
Maternal and Child Health Month Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so they can live longer and grow stronger. We expand access to quality care, so mothers and children everywhere can have the same opportunities for a healthy future. An estimated 5.9 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, inadequate health care, and poor sanitation — all of which can be prevented.
HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN Rotary provides education, immunisations, birth kits, and mobile health clinics. Women are taught how to prevent mother-to- nfant HIV transmission, how to breast-feed, and how to protect themselves and their children from disease.
SUSTAINABLE PROGRAMS Rotary programs improve women’s access to skilled health personnel: doctors, nurses, midwives, or community health care workers. –
KEEPING CHILDREN ALIVE DURING THEIR FIRST YEAR Rotary members teach mothers how to breast-feed, promote immunizations and regular check-ups, and distribute insecticide-treated bed nets. – See more at: http://rotarywilletton.org.au/Stories/april-is-maternal-and-child-health-month#sthash.U88hy8eL.dpuf
Keep this date free: Saturday 20th May – Turaton Music Café. Flyers advertising this event are now available for distribution.
ADG Greg along with Warwick Cavell who is part of the District 9800 Leadership Development Team and currently a mentor in the VicPol Leadership Mentoring Program met with PP Graeme at the ROADEC site prior to the meeting. This gave our visitors the opportunity to inspect the site and to learn from Graeme his vision for the program. During the meeting Warwick took all present through a planning and development program.
Chaired by Sec. Heather, a committee comprising of 3 Club members, ADG Greg as Treasurer and with representation from Education, Police and Community sectors is to be formed. The first priority will be to include ROADEC in the Rotary Showcase at the Steam Rally.
Pie & Port on Saturday night. Have you notified Sec. Heather of your attendance?
